Our online British Sign Language course is certified by CDP (https://cpduk.co.uk/directory/profile/british-sign-co-uk). To obtain this certification we have been through a rigorous approval process. Please note that this course covers some of the same content to that of Signature's BSL Level 1 however this is not a Level 1 qualification and is not accredited by an awarding body as it is a low-cost introductory course.

Is this course suitable for children? Are there any age restrictions?
There are no age restrictions for taking our course. The course does involve a bit of reading and therefore our recommendation is that it wouldn't be suitable for anyone under the age of 12 or 13 years old. The course would not be suitable for children under this age but it is great if someone that young is showing an interest in BSL. What level is the "Introducing British Sign Language" course aimed at?
Introducing British Sign Language is a comprehensive introduction to BSL and is aimed at people who have had no previous BSL training or have only done very basic training such as learning the fignerspelling alphabet. If you already have Signature's BSL level 1 or higher then you may find this course is too basic for your needs.
How does a group booking work? Does each person in the group have to study together?
**Note: we are currently offering "pay what you can" pricing. This applies to groups as well as individuals. ** To order for a group you should go through checkout exactly as you would if booking an individual learner however in the "number of enrollments" field please enter your desired number of enrollments. I have entered the wrong email address or name on the course enrolment page, can I change it?
Any users that have not yet started the course can be removed and added again with the correct details. All you need to do is click the "Delete User" button by their account on the enrolment dashboard page and then re-enter their details (you do not need to pay again).
Will I receive my certificate via post?
Once you have achieved at least 85% on each of the 10 assessments of the course you will have access to your certificate via PDF download at the bottom of the main course page. Assessments can be retaken if you don't achieve 85% on your first attempt. We operate a paperless office and don’t have any printing facilities so aren't able to send certificates by post. How long does it take to complete the course?
Our course contains 10 lesson. We suggest that you take 1-2hrs for each lesson and study 1 lesson each week. Because this is an online course you can study at your own pace and if you wish to study more slowly or more quickly than this then you can do so.
What's the difference between "Introducing British Sign Language" course and the "Beginner Deal" options?

I can't see my certificate - where can I find it?
Once you have achieved at last 85% on each of the 10 assessments of the course your certificate will be available at the bottom of the main course page. The final assessment is only visible once you have scored at least 85% on all of the other assessments - if you have achieved 85% on each of the lessons but still can't see your certificate it could be that you haven't yet completed the final assessment - double check this at the bottom of the main course page - or by viewing your grades page:

My 1 year enrolment is about to expire - can I renew or extend it?
Enrollments on our online course are valid for 1 year. Once your 1 year has expired your account will become dormant for another year after which it will be deleted. Can I reassign or reallocate an unused enrollment place to someone else?
Yes, any users that have not yet started the course, or any user where the details have been entered incorrectly, can have their enrollment un-allocated - this will free up their place so that you can assign it to someone else. Can I pay for an enrollment for a friend or family member and have it in their name?
Yes, the details that you provide for payment during checkout do not need to match the name of the person who will be taking the course. Once you have placed your order you will have access to your enrollment dashboard where you can create your enrollment using the name of the person who will be learning BSL - this does not need to match the details of the person who placed the order.

How to Monitor Learner Progress
You can monitor the progress of any enrollments in your account using your Enrollment Dashboard page. This applies both to those who have ordered an individual enrollment as well as those who have ordered multiple enrollments. Your enrollment dashboard can be accessed by following the link that was emailed to the person who placed your order at the time of payment. As explained in your enrollment email; it is important to keep your enrollment dashboard link safe as you may require it
How often can I retake the course assessments?
Course assessments can be retaken as often as you like until you acheive the score that you are aiming for. Because of this you will not be shown the correct answers to questions that you get wrong.
Do I need a webcam for this course?
Our online course "Introducing British Sign Language" is a self-study course that is set out into 10 sections. Each section is made up of webpages of information and short video clips demonstrating the signs that you are learning. You do not require a webcam to take this course.
Does this course use Adobe Flash player?
Our online course does not use Adobe Flash player (a content format that is no longer supported by most browsers).
